Capitalism

Written by Andy

No system in history has lifted more people out of poverty, created more innovation, or expanded human freedom like capitalism. And yet, it’s the one most viciously attacked.

Why? Because it rewards merit, not mediocrity.

It empowers the individual, not the collective.

It demands freedom — and with it, responsibility.

Capitalism, like all operating systems, gets corrupted. However, it still operates with corruption. Democracy does not give us better government but it allows us to get rid of bad government. Democracy gets corrupted, but it has one beautiful feature — we have a vote to get rid of corrupt government.

Wikipedia
:

Capitalism is an economic system based on the private ownership of the means of production and their use for the purpose of obtaining profit.

Here is Ayn Rand on Capitalism:

Margaret Thatcher is nearly correct:

Socialism relies on taxation. Take money from the productive and give it to the unproductive:

Bill Maher:

Capitalism is accepted as a common-sense procedure. This was not always the case.

Usury is the practice of charging interest. Many argue that capitalism is inherently a debt-based system where usury is central. Historically, usury was condemned for being exploitative. Modern capitalism relies on interest-bearing loans. This tends to benefit the wealthy and tends to fuel an exploitative cycle. Some see the elimination of usury as incompatible with capitalism, as interest is a fundamental part of the modern financial system.
