How Islam Treats Black People Part 3

The 2020 Black Muslim Forum Report has revealed something that has escaped the attention of mainstream media. Black Muslims Racially Abused By Other Muslims.

No Such Thing As An Ummah

The Arabic word ummah (أمة) is supposed to define a collective worldwide Islamic community. The ummah is supposed to describe a community of believers bound with a common purpose, to worship Allah and advance the Islamic cause. The ummah is supposedly a global Islamic community guided by the one true God where no distinctions are made between black, brown or pale-skinned believers. Every Muslim is supposedly equal before God.

Allah refers to the Muslim ummah in the Quran as “the very best of people evolved for mankind”.

No Evolution – Only Stagnation

Islam was founded in seventh-century Arabia by a supposedly illiterate merchant named Muhammad who convulsed in a cave after angel Gabriel told him to “recite”. Muhammads prophetic credentials were confirmed to him during a seizure and hallucination. During Muhammad’s prophetic life he murdered and enslaved thousands if not millions of people who found fault with Islam and his prophetic status.

Islam and Muhammad have not only a sordid history of enslavement but also a historical record of systemic racism towards black people. We do not need to quote any “anecdotal” examples; we need only look to historical records of the Arab slave trade (something that continues to this very day) and widely accepted Islamic scriptures themselves.

Ibn Ishaq wrote the earliest biography of Muhammad. In his book that compiled the sayings and deeds of Muhammad, he refers to a black man called Nabtal.

Muhammad said:

“Whoever wants to see Satan let him take a look at Nabtal al-Harith.”

Nabtal was described as “a sturdy black man with long flowing hair, inflamed eyes, and dark ruddy cheeks”.

Not exactly the most positive description of a black man – equivalent to Satan himself! Someone with “inflamed eyes” and “dark ruddy cheeks”.

Nabtal – Black Satan Man!

The description of Nabtal gets worse, the angel Gabriel sat next to Muhammad and said:

“There comes to sit with you a black man with long flowing hair, ruddy cheeks, and inflamed eyes like two copper pots. His heart is more gross than a donkey’s…”

That’s an Islamic angel of Allah (Gabriel) describing a black man to Muhammad. This description of Nabtal, whose heart is “more gross than a donkeys” relates to surah 9, verse 61 in the Quran.

Blacks – Slaves To The Arabs

Islamic historian Al-Tabari also collated stories of Muhammad and his followers, documenting their deeds and sayings. In his collection, volume 2, pages 20 and 21 describe the “genealogies” of the prophets and patriarchs. In this volume, it tells us Muhammad received information explaining the ancestry of Blacks, Turks and Arabs. Blacks descended from Hem, Turks descended from Japheth and Arabs descended from Shem.

“Ham begat all those who are black and curly-haired, while Japheth begat all those who are full-faced with small eyes, and Shem begat everyone who is handsome of face with beautiful hair. Noah prayed that the hair of Ham’s descendants would not grow beyond their ears, and that wherever his descendants met the children of Shem, the latter would enslave them.”

That is an unambiguous reference to Arabs (Muslims) enslaving Blacks. Blacks were to be the property of Arabs! Arabs were “handsome” with “beautiful” hair.

If what we have evidenced for you so far isn’t enough for you to think that Islam, Arabs and Muhammad have a low opinion of black people, then let us quote from authentic hadith.

Sahih Bukhari Volume 1 Book 11 Hadith 664

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

The Prophet (ﷺ) said to Abu-Dhar, “Listen and obey (your chief) even if he is an Ethiopian with a head like a raisin.”

Ethiopians – Raisin Heads

That is not a “complimentary” description of a black person or people indigenous to Ethiopia.

What is surprising is what the Quran itself says about those of pale and blackened complexions. The Quran Surah 3 verse 106 states that “believing faces” will be “whitened”“lit up” or “turned bright” and the disbelieving faces will be “black” or “blackened”.

Quran 3:106

There does appear to be some examples (there are more) in Islamic history and texts that are less than positive towards “blacks”. Then there is Islam’s sordid 1400 year history of enslaving black people.

Black Muslims? No Thanks!

The racist actions, deeds and sayings of Islamic leaders and of Muhammad himself cannot and should not be ignored or brushed aside for politically correct reasons. People should look into the Arab slave trade, a trade that to this very day continues unabated. The terrible European white man enslaved black Africans for around three centuries with the help of Muslim Arabs. With the growth of western civilisation and cultures, slavery was abolished and made illegal.

Not so in Islam, slavery is an integral part of the Islamic faith, as is its systemic derogation towards “black people”.

Islamic Slavery.

The Black Muslim Forum Report 2020 surveyed 100 Black British Muslims.

Here are the results:

100 self-identified Black Muslims were surveyed between June and December 2019

Participants were asked 7 questions: 4 multiple choice, 3 long answer

Data was analysed and divided into two sections with 4 main themes, some key ideas and suggestions:

Lived experiences themes: Anti-blackness, Mosque / Madrassah, Culture and Marriage

Lived experiences key ideas: Expression of frustration and a desire for a safe space

Suggestions: Education and Awareness raising

53.95% of participants felt that overall they generally did not belong to their local mosque

84% of participants felt that overall they did not belong to their university’s Islamic society

63.41% of participants felt that overall they did not belong to the UK Muslim community

48.98% of participants faced anti-black discrimination or colourism within a UK mosque or religious setting

36.36% of participants faced anti-black discrimination or colourism within a family setting in the UK

79% of participants faced anti-black discrimination or colourism within a secular setting in the UK

46 of the 100 participants could give a rough estimate of discrimination they had faced over the year 2018 alone

Does anyone know or can anyone think of any reason why Black British Muslims are treated so poorly by their co-religionists here in the UK?

In the former Belgian Congo, the Belgian colonial Army fought for years to end and expel Arab slave hunters and traders. The Arab slave hunters went far beyond their generally accepted ”hunting grounds” of East and Sub Saharan Africa. Enslavement of non Muslims is an accepted principle in Mohammedan Cultures.
