I put this here because we are having a similar problem in Christianity.
It is very likely that Jesus visited India for learning in the fourteen years missing from the Bible. It is the story of the ‘Three wise men from the East.”
Veer Savarkar who declared that he will never abandon the cause of the Hindus famously said that he was not afraid of the British or the Muslims but he was afraid of the Hindus against Hinduism.
I will call that a cultural hardwiring fault due to which Hindus are against Hinduism. Our culture respects the renouncer which no other culture in the world does. In other cultures the winner is the hero but in Indian culture the sacrificer becomes the hero. That itself lays the foundation wrong and creates a perverted sense of virtue. For eg: Ashoka is respected because he sacrificed his weapons and his kingdom as a victor. Gandhi took funding from the British but maintained a public image that he walks half naked just because some people don’t have clothes and he started getting revered. Raja Harishchandra literally came on the streets but got revered. We will not improve till we take inspirations from tragedy kings. In other countries people like Raja Harischandra, Gandhi, Ashoka etc would become laughing stocks given their perspective. Instead why not take inspiration from practical and valorous people like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Chandragupta Maurya, Maharana Pratap, Lachit Borphukan, Peshwa Bajirao, Guru Govind Singh, Krishnadevaraya etc?
I once asked a Hindu leftist that why is he is anti-Hindu. He explained that he is not anti-Hindu but prefers to think about others first and puts himself last and therefore supports non-Hindus more. I suddenly remembered the standard PA message on an airplane that in case of an oxygen shortage do not put an oxygen mask on someone else until you have put your own mask first. The leftist was clearly wrong in approach.
Hindus lost their self respect due to invasions from Islamists and British but not to worry, Hindus are capable of bouncing back is we study the history of Hindus from last 5000 years. In the words of the great Veer Savarkar in response to Ghazwa E Hind: As long as even one drop of water remains in the river Indus you will not be able to remove the word Hindu from this great land.
We need to set a few things right though:
All citizens of a country must have equal rights and the political mood must be in the flavour of the core identity of that country like for eg France should have a French flavor to it, it cannot have a British or American flavor hence Indian ethos also in same way must have an Indian core. When the balance shifts from what is mentioned above it becomes a communal matter.
Our shops have English signboards on them not Devnagri signboards. Even many shops in Tamil Nadu don’t have Tamil signboards.
Gurukul system of education is dead, though convents and madarassas are alive.
Our calendars be it Vikram Samvat or Shalivahan which have been used since ancient times for astronomy as well as astrology is hardly followed. Most people can’t even name the 12 months in the year according to Hindu Calendar.
Efforts are made to divide Hindus on grounds of caste, creed, sect, region, language, state, appearance, etc and though Muslim society is greatly divided attempts are made to unite them as a Vote Bank.
Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs and Jains only know basic info on their religion and the Article 30A prohibits Hinduism from being taught in syllabus. However there are no such restrictions on teaching the Quran or Bible.
If someone points out that India is land of Hindus just as Germany is land of Germans or Russia is land of Russians, then he is silenced and reminded that we are a secular nation conveniently ignoring the fact that Hinduism is an identity and not a religion.
There are more than 20 secular mainstream political parties in India but only 2 Hindutva parties.
The full Vande Matram by Bankim Chandra Chhatopadhyay is a masterpiece ode to Bharat Mata however just to appease some people we are taught the censored version of it when we should be reciting the full poem.
So as this question refers to the Majority in India we wonder if the Majority is the real minority. India is the only country in the world where the majority are not encouraged to define the culture of the nation as per their identity.
