Welcome to Truth In History.
Is there such a thing as the “Judeo-Christian tradition”? In any area of life, whether it be religion, culture, anything, the simple, straightforward answer is NO! Why then are there so many people today, and so many preachers especially, talking about our Judeo-Christian tradition, or our Judeo-Christian religion? There is no such thing. But I know where they get it, because I’ve been to Bible college.
You get it in institutions like that, from professors and students, ministerial students are intimidated to speak up, and besides they don’t know the truth about the matter, and they’re young, and they want to pass the test, and they’re not critical thinkers, and they don’t read, except what they’re assigned to read, and they believe the professor, and that’s the going thing, so when you get in your pulpit, you talk about the Judeo-Christian religion, or tradition, and if you’re invited to the Kiwanis Club to make a speech, or an interfaith conference in your town, you talk about that Judeo-Christian tradition, but it’s one big lie.
Now what is the root of that lie? What is the source of all the confusion concerning the subject of Israel in the Bible, and in the news? Is that evangelical Christianity has been purporting a lie for decades, and the big lie is that the Jews are the true Israelites that can trace their lineage all the way back to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And then all the other lies are follow-ups of that one big lie.
I want to read some things today, and I hope it’s helpful to everyone that is listening, to put this myth to bed and let it die, this Judeo-Christian concept, myth, because that’s what it is. But first I want to read a few verses out of the book of Matthew, Matthew chapter 23, verse 34 and 35:
“Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets,” (this is the Lord Jesus speaking,) and wise men, and scribes, and some of them ye shall kill.”
Now who’s the “ye”? Well, going back to verse number 1, “Then spake Jesus to the multitude, and to his disciples, saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.”
And then He names all these different characteristics of those people. And so He’s speaking of the scribes and the Pharisees, the leaders of Judaism.
“Behold, I send unto you prophets, wise men, scribes, and some of them ye shall kill, and crucify. And some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city, that upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the righteous, from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.”
Just recently a Congressional delegation headed up by the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, went to the secular state of Israel, and they took their pictures, and they went to the wailing wall, and they put their little papers, or the little prayers in the crevices of that wall. And then Mike Johnson spoke to the camera, and he said, “Well, we put our little papers, or request, or whatever they had written on the paper, into the crevices of the wall, and we’re here to support Israel, because the Bible tells us so. And because I’m a Christian, I want to support Israel.”
Now folks, we have too many Christians in Congress. That may sound ironic, but we have too many Judeo-Christians in Congress, Christian Zionists. We would be better off with a bunch of cigarette smoking, beer drinking, fat-bellied congressmen that know nothing about the scripture, because this lie that Johnson and many others in Congress and out of Congress, in the school systems, in the churches, promoting this is, is taking America down the road to eventual collapse. And what it’s doing in the meantime is surrendering our sovereignty to a foreign nation.
Now I ask the question, Jesus said, concerning the Jews, that they will kill the prophets and the wise men and the scribes that are sent unto them, and they will be guilty of the righteous blood of Abel, all the way down to the son, the blood of Zacharias, son of Barakias. Is that the tradition, Mr. Johnson, that you want? Is that the tradition that you claim is yours, part of your religion?
In John chapter 8 of our Bible, this is a neglected part of the Bible by the Christian Zionist. Jesus is talking to the Jews, John 8:37, He said, “I know that ye are Abraham’s seed, but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.” Is that the people that you are following, people that have not the word of God in them?
“I speak that which I have seen with my father, and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.” So Jesus is saying there’s two fathers. He had a father, Jacob, and the Jews, they had a father, Esau, because that’s who they’re following.
“They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said unto them, if ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham.” He even went back further than Jacob and Esau. He went back to Abraham and said, are you really Abraham’s children?
Now even the secular people that are on YouTube have become aware of Genesis chapter 12 and verse 3, that the promise gave, given to Abraham that whoever blesses you, I will bless, whoever curses you, I will curse, that was given to Abraham. It was not given to a secular state in the Middle East that is taking billions and billions of Federal Reserve notes from the United States to do their dirty work, whether it be killing Palestinians or whatever else they do, stealing our nuclear secrets and creating chaos in the Middle East. That command, that promise wasn’t given to be applied to them. This is what Jesus said, “But now ye seek to kill me, a man that had told you the truth which I have heard of, which I have heard of God, this did not Abraham. ”
So I want to ask Mike Johnson and all the other Judeo-Congressmen that went with him and every Judeo-Christian and every Christian Zionist, are you on the side of those that wish to kill the Lord Jesus? He goes on to say, in verse 44, “Ye are of your father the devil.” You can interpret that different ways, but we know one thing that it means for sure. It means opposer. “Ye are of your father” the one that constantly opposes Me, referring to Himself, and opposes the seed of the woman, going back to Genesis chapter 3. “And the lust of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning.” Mike Johnson, are you wanting to identify yourself with the murderers of, from the beginning, “and abode not in the truth, because there’s no truth in him? When he speaks a lie, he speaks of his own, for he’s a liar, and the father of it. He that is of God hears God’s words. Ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” It’s quite plain.
Now, where is this Judeo-Christian tradition? Where’s it at? Where did it come from? I want to read you several comments concerning this idea. This book that I’m reading from now is called, “The Myth of the Judeo-Christian Tradition.” And guess who it was written by? A Jewish man by the name of Arthur A. Cohen, the myth of the Judeo-Christian tradition. He knew better. He gives us the background, the origin of this phrase.
He says on page 18 of the introduction, “The Judeo-Christian tradition was formed by the opponents of Judaism and Christianity, by the opponents of a system of unreason which had nearly destroyed Western Europe. It was only in the late nineteenth century in Germany that the Judeo-Christian tradition as such was first defined. It was introduced by German-Protestant scholarship to account for the findings developed by the higher criticism of the Old Testament and achieved considerable currency as a polemical term in that period.
What he is saying is that the higher critics of the late nineteenth century, they did not like Judaism, they did not like Christianity. They discredited both Old and New Testament. They didn’t like either one of them, and so they just put them together and said, that’s a Judeo-Christian tradition, or theology, or whatever else it may be called.
Mr. Cohen goes on to say this: “The Judeo-Christian tradition is an eschatological myth for the Christian who no longer can deal with actual history, and a historical myth for Jews who can no longer deal with the radical negations of eschatology, or of prophecy.”
Now that’s a powerful statement. The Judeo-Christian tradition is an eschatological myth for the Christian who no longer can deal with actual history, because they don’t read actual history. They don’t believe actual history. They don’t examine what they’re reading, because they’re not critical thinkers. So there you have it. That’s the beginning of the late nineteenth century by the higher critics that criticize and tear our Bible apart.
In Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians, Paul said to prove all things, and to hold fast to that which is good. The implication is that you throw out that which is not good and not true. It is, Mr. Cohen goes on to say, the endless parade of Jewish thinkers addressing Christian audiences and rehearsing with calm and fluency the corruption of Christendom, and the equally sincere and passionate late-flowering recognition of Christian thinkers of the enormities which Christianity has inflicted upon the Jews.
It’s time for them to grow up, and it’s time for Christian audiences to grow up and to quit being influenced by smooth talking, whether they be Jewish or non-Jewish speakers, to convince the audience of this connection between Judaism and Christianity.
He continues: “What we can learn is how the idea of the Judeo-Christian tradition began, and why it has become in our day a myth, which buries under the fine silt of rhetoric an authentic, meaningful and irrevocable distinction which exists between Jewish belief and Christian belief.”
As I have already indicated, the notion of Judeo-Christian tradition did not come into existence during that period which enclosed the seventeen hundred years of origin, expansion, consolidation and withering of Christian power. So it’s a relatively new term. In the eighteenth, or in the nineteenth century, it came into being out of Germany by a bunch of non-believing so-called theologians, higher critics that didn’t like the Bible. And it caught on like a fire in a high wind and, and these churches and these Bible colleges just latched on to it, because it was refined by dispensationalism and the Scofield Bible. It was made palatable to the Christian reader.
Let me read you some more concerning what this man has to say. “The Judeo-Christian tradition is a myth. It is moreover not only a myth of history, that is an assumption founded upon the self-deceiving of man, but an eschatological myth which bears within it an optimism, a hope which transcends and obliterates the historicism of the myth. As myth, it is therefore both negative and positive, deadly and dangerous, visionary and prophetic at one and the same time.”
He goes on to say, on the dissimilarity of Judaism and Christianity, Mr. Arthur Cohen, in this book right here, wrote, the dialogue began in recent decades between Protestantism and Roman Catholicism is founded upon a regenerate sense that both communities are united by a common witness to Jesus Christ, and a conviction that some means must be found in which that witness can be articulated in common. Judaism and Christianity have no such high order of common witness. I want to read that again. Judaism and Christianity have no such high order of common witness.
That’s what he says. He’s talking about a witness concerning Jesus Christ. Their commonality is founded upon the Hebrew Bible. This is, however, less than a whole loaf for either. Since for the Jew what Rabbinic Judaism affirms about scripture enjoins an absolutely certain, he uses the word apodictic (necessarily or demonstrably true), absolutely certain status that the Christian does not acknowledge. Similarly, what the Christian affirms in the light of the Gospel about the Hebrew Bible is totally foreign to the Jewish experience.
The Bible says, how can two walk together except they be agreed? See, the Jews have hijacked the Old Testament, and they have convinced unthinking Christians that that’s the Jewish book. And the New Testament is the Christian book. No, both books are Christian.
It’s a Hebrew tradition, not a Jewish tradition. Some people may say, what, what’s the difference? That question alone shows an ignorance, a lack of understanding as to Bible knowledge and history. There is a big difference between Hebrew and Judaism.
I have another book here. It is titled, The Judeo-Christian Tradition by Dr. Gary North, a very learned man. And he says this, I read, “I agree with the astoundingly prolific Orthodox Jew, Jacob Neusner, whose studies on Jewish law are as close to definitive as the writings of any person can be.”
He writes, this is what the, the Jewish rabbi writes, “Judaism and Christianity are completely different religions, not different versions of one religion, that of the Old Testament, or the written Torah as Jews call it. The two faiths stand for different people talking about different things to different people. I’m going to read that again.
Orthodox Jewish writer Jacob Neusner writes, “Judaism and Christianity are completely different religions, not different versions of one religion, that of the Old Testament or the written Torah as Jews call it. The two faiths stand for different people talking about different things to different people.”
Gary North says this concerning the six-pointed flag, the six-pointed star on the Jewish flag that you see flying in Christian churches. How appalling. It’s the star of Remphan, but they think it’s the star of David. David who? The six-pointed star is not one of the symbols of the tribes of Israel as listed in the Old Testament. It’s not there. Each brigade and each tribe had a symbol. Six-pointed star is not found.
This is what Dr. Gary, Gary North says about the six-pointed star. “The fact is, the so-called star of David is a universal pagan symbol, long predating Judaism. It was adopted by Zionists in the late nineteenth century. Before that, it was used as a decoration by Jews, Muslims and Christians. It was long called the Seal of Solomon.”
How many Jews, let alone Christians, have ever been informed of the following information presented by Jewish scholar and art historian, Joseph Gutman? And then this is Gutman’s statement: “The Megan David is a hexagram or six-pointed star. It appears as early as the Bronze Age and is at home in cultures and civilizations, widely removed in time.

This is a talk by Charles A Jennings of the Truth in History channel. I dare say most Christians don’t know about history behind the term, “Judeo-Christian.” I think you’ll be surprised to find out!
